I have been building
high
quality wood epoxy canoes since 1975 and
I
have several designs available from 12' 6" solo canoes to 18' 6"
tandems.
Most canoes are custom built to order but occasionally I have boats
in
stock for immediate delivery.
Harman cedar strip canoes feature western red
cedar
planking one
quarter inch thick with bead and cove edges. The planks are edge glued
and covered with clear fiberglass cloth and epoxy resin inside and
out.
Seats, thwarts, stems and gunnels are white ash, decks are western
red
cedar. Fastenings are copper, bronze and brass.
Options include sliding seats, long
decks, portage thwart, rawhide laced
seats,
extra layers of fiberglass and different trim woods such as oak,
cherry,
mahogany or walnut. Depth specifications can be adjusted higher or
lower
on all models. Prices run
$195
per foot plus options.
The stuning appearance of these finely
crafted canoes is
merely
a bonus, they are designed and built to be used. With reasonable care
that
would be given any high quality canoe regardless of the material, a
Harman cedarstrip canoe will provide generations of lasting pleasure.
